I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen a big group of kids totally engaged like that. Very cool.
The sad thing is that music is one of the first things cut. Here in Centralia we try to sing at a grade school every quarter to show children what music can look like. Some schools in this area don't even have a music teacher. There is one school whose PE teacher doubles as the music teacher.
Today we sang for K-3 at a local school and some of our members were in costume. It was amazing to watch. There was one little boy who knew all the words to "Feed the Birds" a song from Mary Poppins. These children were quiet and listened to the songs. This particular school is in the poorer side of town too so it made it all the more poignant. I would like Finn and Henry and Natalie, Chase and Ethan to all go to that school!! However, you can believe that my grand children will appreciate music and know how to dance freely to very loud music.
Music Rocks!!
Those kids put that guys guitar playing to shame.
